Rapid Access Program

RAPID ACCESS PROGRAM RESIDENTIAL LOCKBOXES

When responding to 9-1-1 calls, First Responders occasionally find themselves unable to enter a residence because the patient’s condition has rendered them unable to unlock the door. Because time is a critical factor in an emergency, first responders faced with this situation often must enter the home by force, damaging windows and doors that may not be re-secured without replacement.

The Rapid Access Program eliminates the need for forced entry by ensuring Indian Harbour Beach First Responders (Firefighters and Police) have a quick and safe way to enter the home without causing damage.

To participate, a resident places a Rapid Access box purchased from the Fire Department near their front door with a key inside. The code for the box is selected by the resident and is stored in the Indian Harbour Beach Communication Center’s Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. In the event of a 9-1-1 call at the residence, the code is revealed only to police and fire units assigned to the call.

Rapid Access boxes are available at an at-cost basis. There are no ongoing monthly fees to participate. The Indian Harbour Beach Fire Department will deliver and install the box at no additional cost as a service to our residents.

This program was made available through a partnership with Lowe's, where a limited number of new lockboxes were provided to the Indian Harbour Beach Firefighters’ Outreach at a reduced cost.
